Hi, I'm Nick

I'm Nick Borden, a home cook in Doylestown, right in the heart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Cooking with Nick is where I share the easy, seasonal recipes I actually make at home: real food, simple steps, and ingredients you can find at the farm stand down the road.

I've been cooking since I was about seven. I taught myself, experimenting with different spices, flavor combinations, and ways of cooking. Then one Christmas I got a recipe-of-the-month club that sent me a new recipe and a new kitchen tool every month, and I was hooked.

Why seasonal and local?

Bucks County is full of farms, orchards, and makers, and cooking with what's in season is the easiest way to make food taste great. You'll see a lot of local ingredients here, from culinary lavender to fresh summer produce, and I'll always tell you where I found them. Every recipe is written so you can make it with whatever your own grocery store or farmers market has.

From behind the bar to the kitchen

Until recently I was a bartender, so I can't help pairing food with a good drink. Look for cocktail and drink pairings with some of my recipes.

What you'll find here

  • Easy weeknight dinners that don't need a long ingredient list

  • Desserts and baking, like my lavender shortbread cookies

  • Seasonal Bucks County recipes and farm-to-table sides

  • Game day and party food, plus holiday favorites

Let's cook together
